I didn’t expect the end of March Comes in Like a Lion to wind up with a trip on the Galaxy Express 999, but that’s what happened. Yeah, this is just a metaphor but it certainly does work considering the vast emotional journey that the protagonist had to deal with throughout what we have been following in these twenty-two episodes.
This isn’t the end though. With the manga’s story reaching beyond the anime’s concluding episode, we can all expect more come fall. My little opinion is that as far as the Chica Umino adaptations go, I enjoyed Honey and Clover more, but March Comes in Like a Lion really hasn’t finished yet so I feel like I can’t safely say what my full opinion of this story is. So far though, this show is a really excellent, well-written drama.
